Canadian AI™ Launches Canadian AI Cyber™ to Advance Sovereign Cybersecurity, AI Security and Post-Quantum Readiness

New Canadian cybersecurity initiative will focus on sovereign security architecture, AI safety, post-quantum migration and resilient digital infrastructure.

CANADA — October 4, 2026 — Canadian AI™ today announced the launch of Canadian AI Cyber™, a cybersecurity initiative focused on sovereign cybersecurity, AI security and safety, post-quantum security, and resilient digital infrastructure for Canadian organizations operating in increasingly interconnected and high-consequence technology environments.

Canadian AI Cyber™ is being developed for a security environment in which AI is becoming embedded across enterprise workflows, cloud and software supply chains are concentrating dependencies, cryptographic systems are beginning a long transition toward post-quantum standards, and critical infrastructure increasingly depends on interconnected digital control planes.

The initiative will combine research, architecture, enterprise advisory and technology development across the points where these shifts converge. Its operating approach treats security as a connected architecture spanning identity, data protection, cryptography, software assurance, telemetry, AI controls and recovery rather than as a collection of isolated products.

Sovereign cybersecurity as an operating capability

A central focus of Canadian AI Cyber™ will be sovereign cybersecurity: the practical ability to understand and govern the administrative authority, data flows, cryptographic custody, technology dependencies and recovery mechanisms that determine control over critical digital systems.

This perspective extends beyond where infrastructure is physically hosted. Organizations may operate domestically while still relying on external privileged administration, software-update channels, cryptographic services, identity platforms or recovery mechanisms. Canadian AI Cyber™ will examine architectures that expose those dependencies and strengthen operational control during both normal and degraded conditions.

AI security and safety

As AI systems progress from analysis and content generation toward retrieval, tool use and increasingly agentic execution, cybersecurity programs must govern more than models and datasets. They also need controls for machine identities, permissions, secrets, tools and the actions autonomous or semi-autonomous systems are permitted to take.

Research will focus on identifiable AI agents, bounded privileges, external policy enforcement, protected instruction and knowledge layers, continuous telemetry, incident containment and sufficient evidence to reconstruct machine-generated activity when required.

Post-quantum security and cryptographic agility

Canadian AI Cyber™ will develop research and advisory capabilities around post-quantum security and the long-term modernization of cryptographic infrastructure. Because public-key cryptography is deeply embedded across networks, identity, signing, software distribution, devices and enterprise applications, migration will require coordinated discovery, testing, supplier readiness and controlled implementation.

The initiative will examine cryptographic inventory, confidentiality horizons, crypto-agility architecture, supplier readiness, migration sequencing and governance so organizations can build a repeatable capability to change cryptographic mechanisms without destabilizing dependent systems.

Critical infrastructure and cyber resilience

For critical infrastructure and other high-consequence environments, Canadian AI Cyber™ will emphasize cyber safety and operational resilience. Security models in these environments must account for the possibility that a digital incident can affect physical operations, essential services, safety or economic continuity.

Research will address IT and operational-technology dependency mapping, privileged and remote access, segmentation, configuration assurance, safe degraded operation, recovery architecture and the interaction between AI-enabled automation and operational control.

Research program

The initial research program is organized around four themes: sovereign cybersecurity for Canada, post-quantum migration, security architecture for AI models and agents, and cyber safety for critical infrastructure. The objective is to translate emerging technical and policy developments into architecture-level guidance that enterprise and institutional decision-makers can use.

Future work is expected to extend across cryptographic infrastructure, secure AI, cyber resilience, software supply-chain assurance, digital sovereignty and sector-specific security architecture.

Working with Canadian organizations

Canadian AI Cyber™ will support engagements that begin with the organization’s operating problem rather than a predetermined security product. Potential starting points include cybersecurity architecture reviews, AI security assessments, post-quantum readiness programs, sovereign-control assessments and resilience or recovery design.

The initiative is intended to support organizations across financial services, critical infrastructure, healthcare, industrial and energy environments, defence and aerospace, technology and AI, and the public sector, subject to applicable procurement, security, regulatory and contracting requirements.

Leadership perspective

“Cybersecurity is becoming inseparable from AI strategy. As intelligent systems gain greater access to enterprise data, tools and infrastructure, organizations need security architectures that preserve control, identity, resilience and accountability by design. Canadian AI Cyber™ brings those disciplines together around the next generation of digital infrastructure.”
